ITW Buildex
Established in 1967, ITW Buildex, a division of Illinois Tool
Works, continues to evolve in its role to manufacture and provide innovative,
value-added fastening solutions to the global construction market.
We take pride in our commitment to operational excellence, superior service and
new product development that has guided the company through decades of growth by
meeting the ever-changing needs of the commercial construction industry. Focusing
on the needs of our end-users enables us to customize our product offering and
service based on their requirements.
Our product portfolio includes Teks® self-drilling fasteners, Sammys®
threaded rod hangers, Dektite® flashing systems, E-Z Ancor® drywall
anchors, and Dek-King® for wood deck construction. Our proprietary coatings
Climaseal® and Climacoat® are unmatched in the industry. While our
attachment solutions satisfy a wide range of applications, Buildex is focused on
steel construction and overhead attachment. Primary markets include metal
building, fire protection, plumbing, electrical and HVAC.
With headquarters located in Itasca, IL, we're just thirty minutes from Chicago,
while manufacturing and distribution facilities are nearby in Roselle and Elgin,
IL.
Community Involvement
Through corporate philanthropy and community building initiatives, we help
strengthen communities and encourage a culture of community service among our
employees and retirees. On an annual basis, ITW Buildex employees proudly
contribute efforts to the organizations listed below.
The Foundation contributes financial
support to not-for-profit organizations through two major giving programs: a
direct-giving program and a three-for-one matching gift program for employees.
ITW's Direct Giving program funds 100 groups in the communities in which we're
located.
In 2010, ITW Buildex employees have donated over $30,000 to various charitable
organizations, resulting in almost $100,000 in total donations.
Our grants support organizations that focus on education, the arts, health and
human services, social welfare, housing, environmental and youth issues. For
2006, the Foundation contributed more than $12.8 million to fund community
initiatives. Matching dollar contributions were more than $4.5 million of our
overall funding for the past year. These dollars aid the diverse organizations
that our employees choose to support financially.
United Way is ITW's charitable
organization of choice. We believe our alliance with United Way enables our
dollars to reach farther and have the greatest impact possible. The monies raised
through employee contributions were distributed to 305 local United Way chapters
throughout the United States and Canada. In 2010/2011, employee pledges from
active employees and retirees, plus $1-for-$1 Foundation match grants, totaled
approximately $10.3 million.
During our annual United Way Campaign, ITW Buildex had 100% participation at our
Itasca and Elgin locations with a total employees contribution of almost $30,000
to various local chapters of the United Way. As a result of our high
participation percentage, the ITW Foundation matched our donation at the highest
possible level for a grand total of over $60,000 being raised.
ITW participates in
Junior Achievement programs that use hands-on experiences to help young people
from kindergarten through high school understand the economics of life. We
provide volunteers who donate time each semester to schools where our business
units are located. In 2006, more than 300 men and women volunteered their time to
teach programs in nine states. Participation in the Chicago Bowl-A-Thon, where we
have raised more than $2.2 million to fund Junior Achievement programs over the
past 15 years, is a highlight for employees.
Buildex volunteers participate in various Junior Achievement events and programs
at local elementary schools, facilitating various business related educational
activities. In addition, our employees have supported Junior Achievement
financially through participation in ITW's annual Junior Achievement Bowl-A-Thon.
This year the Buildex bowling teams raised over $3,000 and ITW as a whole raised
$780,000.
Family Shelter Services
(www.familyshelterservice.org) provide many services for
victims of domestic violence, such as individual and group counseling, court
advocacy and services, shelter, hotline, teen services, children's services, and
Latina services. ITW Buildex has provided volunteers to help clean and repair
shelters and work in their resale shops. We have also held donation drives to
collect necessary items for individuals living within their shelters and
participated in their annual 5k walk.
Part of Something Bigger

diversified range of value-adding and short lead-time industrial products and
