Teks® -

What approvals does Buildex have for mechanically fastening metal roofdeck to bar joist?
Can Teks Point screws be used to attach stainless steel?
Is a fastener with thread pitch of 14 threads per inch appropriate for fastening into steel thicker than 1/4"?
Does the length of the screw gun extension cord affect the drilling performance of the screw?
What factors affect the pullout values of a particular Tek's fasteners?
Can Teks fasteners be used for attachment into aluminum?

What approvals does Buildex have for mechanically fastening metal roofdeck to bar joist?
ICBO 3056 and Factory Mutual wind uplift approvals.
Can Teks Point screws be used to attach stainless steel?
Self drilling fasteners will not drill many types of stainless steel.
Is a fastener with thread pitch of 14 threads per inch appropriate for fastening into steel thicker than 1/4"?
Typically coarse thread fasteners are not appropriate for heavy steel, use a 12-24 Teks 4 to 5.
Does the length of the screw gun extension cord affect the drilling performance of the screw?
It is important to use adequate cordage to prevent power loss at the tool. Proper cordage will also extend the life of the tools electrical components, use 18 gauge cable for 25-100 feet lengths and 14 gauge for 100-200 feet run.
What factors affect the pullout values of a particular Tek's fasteners?
The pullout varies depending on the gauge and strength of the steel into which  the fasteners are being driven.
Can Teks fasteners be used for attachment into aluminum?
The decision as to the feasibility of the use of carbon steel fasteners in a dissimilar metals application (aluminum) is the sole responsibility of the design professional of record. Some significant criteria to be considered are the atmospheric conditions, thermal expansion rates of the materials, relative surface area of the metals, and the potential contribution of a barrier to reduction of the encouragement of an electrical circuit.
