Purchasing Analyst
We are a growing division of Fortune 200
Illinois Tool Works, Inc. and a leading manufacturer of fasteners and fastening
systems for the commercial construction industry. We have an immediate opening
for a Purchasing Analyst at our divisional headquarters in Itasca, IL.
Job Responsibilities

Responsible for the purchasing and material control function of one or more
product lines. Reviews production blueprints and capacity data as required.

Initiates, processes and releases purchase orders for components and outside
services. Tracks inventory levels to ensure that stock on hand is maintained at
target levels.

Under direction of the Materials Manager, place purchase orders for a variety of
commodities, materials, supplies and services related to fasteners and fastener
systems.

Obtain quotations and make quotation comparisons. Engage in simple negotiations
but only with the supervision of the Materials Manager.

Consult departments when substitutions may be advantageous, secure samples,
arrange for tests when necessary, place orders and follow-up delivery.

Goods and services purchased will be primarily from domestic sources and the
incumbent will use a Market Rate of Demand (MRD) replenishment system to insure
that purchased goods are maintained at the desired target inventory levels. The
incumbent is responsible for implementing simple systems or procedures that
minimize the product/service lead time from the vendor.

Maintain communications with the Operations, Sales & Marketing and others to
ensure that the inventory targets/requirements are clearly understood and
satisfy MRD needs. Changes to MRD requirements must also be communicated
clearly.
- Provide administrative support to the Purchasing Dept.
Requirements

Thorough knowledge of the specialized field of purchasing, production planning,
and scheduling.

3 and up to 5 years of purchasing/materials control experience.

BS degree is a plus.
- Must have working knowledge of Excel and Word.
- Employee must be detail oriented, well organized and complete tasks timely and
accurately.
- Employee must be able to interact with employees from different departments.
- Employee must be able to take direction well.
